A bright future
ArthroLase is an Australian private company pioneering an intelligent joint resurfacing system that uses robotic laser-bone shaping and next-gen prosthesis to closely replicate natural joint function for patients who suffer osteoarthritis.
Our advanced system integrates non-contact, high speed laser cutting, with surgical robotics and real-time intraoperative digital sensing. This enables orthopaedic surgeons to use the sub-millimetre accuracy of laser bone shaping technology to achieve increased consistency, reproducibility, and precision in full and partial knee replacement and resurfacing procedures.
Limitations of current practice
Current bone cutting techniques see surgeons relying on inaccurate hand-held or hand-guided mechanical cutting tools. Although considered the industry standard, these instruments lack sub-millimetre precision. They also damage bone tissue due to transfer of heat, vibrations and biomechanical stress. Further explore the Limitations of Current Osteotomy Tools in the video below.
